Workplace Description

The Faculty of Humanities and Theology at Lund University has a cohesive library organization, the HT Libraries. The HT Libraries consist of three physical units: the Asia Library, the LUX Library, and the SOL Library, which operate as a single entity. As a student employee at the HT Libraries, you may work shifts at all units.

Job Responsibilities

You will provide service at our information desks, primarily for students and staff at the Faculty of Humanities and Theology. The work includes basic library tasks such as circulation, shelving, basic IT support, moving collections, light cleaning, administrative duties, and other assistant tasks commonly found in libraries. Since the role involves handling physical materials, it can occasionally be physically demanding.

Qualifications

To be eligible for employment as a student employee, you must be enrolled in full-time higher education studies in Sweden, have completed approved studies equivalent to at least 60 higher education credits, and not have started doctoral studies.

Requirements for the position include:

  • Current studies at undergraduate or advanced level at the Faculty of Humanities and Theology at Lund University during the employment period.
  • Very good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • Good proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • You are on track with your studies.
  • Experience in library work, preferably at a university and/or research library.
  • Good knowledge of the Faculty of Humanities and Theology.

Merits for the position include:

  • Language skills assessed to meet a need in the operations.
  • Knowledge of the library systems used at LU.
  • Previous studies within humanities and theology.
  • Knowledge of Koha.

The duties require you to be service-oriented and have good communication skills. You need to be detail-oriented in your tasks. It is very important that you take responsibility and are self-motivated in driving your work tasks. You will work partially independently in the evenings, which you need to be comfortable with.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Working Hours

Working hours are primarily scheduled for two recurring afternoons/evenings per week. There are limited opportunities to swap shifts. Excess working hours are scheduled in dialogue with the operations. Vacation days are taken in agreement and in accordance with the needs of the operations.

Other Information

The employment is fixed-term from August 31, 2026, to January 17, 2027, covering 17.5% of a full-time position. Regulations regarding employment as a student employee can be found in the Agreement for Student Employees. The employment must not negatively affect your studies.

The Faculty of Humanities and Theology at Lund University has a cohesive library organization, the HT Libraries. The HT Libraries consist of three physical units: the Asia Library, the LUX Library, and the SOL Library. These are located close to each other and operate as a single entity.

We work to provide close and subject-specific support for research and learning at the Faculty of Humanities and Theology. The pedagogical and service-oriented approach, combined with integration into the rest of the faculty's operations, forms the basis of our work. The collections consist of both printed and electronic resources. The HT Libraries have close cooperation with the other libraries at Lund University.
